How Fucoidan help diabetics to fight COVID-19 and reduce the risk of severe illness?

Experiments have confirmed that fucoidan can improve the damage and dysfunction of pancreatic β-cells in diabetic mice. The main mechanism is to reduce the death of pancreatic β-cells, and regulate PDX-1 and GLP1-R via the Sirt-1-dependent pathway to increase insulin synthesis. Therefore, foods or supplements containing fucoidan may be able to control diabetes by preventing the damage of pancreatic β cells.
